Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale, the American professional basketball player for the Dallas Wings in the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the college level before being selected as the 5th overall pick by the Wings during the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born on March 2nd, 1997, in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Her brothers are Mario (26 an older) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). As the eldest of her siblings, she was considered to be the spoilt with her mother and father. Her father Gregory was with the Nigerian Army for quite some time. Ogunbowale comes from an active lineage of family members. Her brother Dare is a player in the NFL and her mom Yolanda played softball at DePaul. Her aunt used to play volleyball at UAPB as was the cousin Endia Oliver plays volleyball at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was listed on her high school's Honour Roll for three years consecutively. Ogunbowale has also received numerous honors and has received notoriety and praise throughout her high school years. Arike has graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in her hometown. She participated in three games of the varsity league while she studied there. Ogunbowale was able to lead her team in numerous wins thanks to her exceptional skills. She compiled her high school career with 73 career starts and lists career totals of seven39 and 1,477 rebounds. Ogunbowale was awarded Gold Medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championships as well as the 2014 FIBA U17 world Championships and 2013 3x3 Championships of FIBA. In July of 2014 she was chosen as a part of the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also selected for the ACC All-Freshman Team for her debut collegiate season. Kobe Bryant even thanked her for launching a series of huge shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale, a basketball player in her early teens, is a player that has proved to be an outstanding star.
